Forcible collection prohibited

Nongpoh, Nov 28: The Ri Bhoi District Magistrate has barred illegal or unauthorised check gates from forcibly collecting from any vehicle plying on national highways, state highways or PWD (Rural) Roads within the district. In a separate order, the district magistrate has also prohibited the plying of heavy vehicles exceeding the permissible limit of 40 MT gross weight over the Umiam Concrete Dam, Ri Bhoi.
