Committee against MeECL taking non-essential loans
SHILLONG, Nov 30: The Coordination Committee of Registered MeECL Employees Associations and Unions has asked MeECL to immediately stop taking superfluous loans for projects or schemes so as to steer clear of further debt traps. In a petition to the MD of the MeECL, the Committee also exhorted the management to devise a comprehensive plan to resuscitate the organisation with a time-bound roadmap that would include taking stringent measures such as load shedding to high-loss areas. The Committee also adjured the MeECL to take prompt measures to the extent of disconnecting power supply defaulters. The Committee also maintained that the salary for October should be disbursed before December 4.
Dists urged to avoid referring mild COVID patients to Tura CH
TURA, Nov 30: The Joint Director of Health Services, Garo Hills Division and hospital Superintendent, Minakshi Sangma, has advised other districts to refrain themselves from referring mild and moderate cases to the Tura Civil Hospital. According to the statement, such cases may be admitted and treated at their own district hospitals. The statement comes in view of the surge in the number of COVID-19 patients and the limited number of beds at Tura Civil Hospital.
Workshop on drug demand reduction
SHILLONG, Nov 30: The Red Ribbon Club of MLCU in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Network of Positive People (MSNP) organised a workshop-cum-seminar on drug demand reduction on November 27. The Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club, MLCU, said the workshop is an advance commemoration of World AIDS Day 2020 and also marks the four-year journey of the Red Ribbon Club of MLCU. Special emphasis was also laid on the theme of this World AIDS Day 2020, ‘Ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic: Resilience and Impact’.
