TURA, Dec 6: The Government Branch Press Industrial Employees’ Association (GBPIEA) from Garo Hills has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma urging him to appoint an IAS Officer to the post of the Director in the department.
In their memorandum to the chief minister, the employees informed that the department has been following the system of departmental promotion of its Foreman to the highest post of the Director till today.
“An LPT (Diploma) passed candidate can apply for the post of Foreman and the same Foreman is promoted to Assistant Director, Deputy Director, Joint Director and finally the Director. The nature of the Foreman’s job is industrial tasks only and with the department having three sections-Industrial, Ministerial and Stationary, he has to look after all these sections when he is promoted which is affecting the department as he cannot function to the best of his ability,” they said.
The employees added that due to the situation, administrative works cannot be completed in time and even normal office tasks are always delayed and never completed within time.
