Awareness on protecting endangered animals

SHILLONG, Dec 8: With the rise in man-animal conflicts, leading to deaths of various endangered animals, the Outreach Programme Committee of Sankardev College on December 1 organised an awareness programme thematised on ‘Man Animal Conflict and the Wildlife Protection Act 1972’ in Pynursla Civil Sub-Division.
The programme was organised with the objectives to disseminate information among the Rangbah Shnong, Seng Samla Shnong and village elders on the need to preserve the diverse flora and fauna, which are categorised as endangered species.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the District Forest Office Khasi Hills Wildlife Division, Forest and Environment department.
Locals from Mawlyndun, Mawsohrisa, Mawpyrthuh, Ringer, Massar, Maw ah, Wahkhen, Shiliang Jashar, Kynton sa ir, Kyndiar and Thiepskhai villages had participated during the programme.
Awareness on pandemic
Meanwhile, the community outreach program committee had also organised recently an awareness programme on ‘Managing a Pandemic — Ways to enhance Nutrition, Health and Safety for ourselves and our immediate surroundings’ at Mawlyndiar and Laitmawsiang Village, Sohra.
