SHILLONG, Dec 8: Health Minister AL Hek has directed all concerned officers to prepare the logistics for COVID-19 inoculation drive as a vaccine may become ready for use anytime soon.
“The vaccines may come anytime; hence I have told them to be prepared for the drive as soon as the vaccine shots arrive,” Hek said during the visit to Garo Hills region on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had earlier said that Meghalaya will get its hands on a COVID-19 vaccine by December.
Executive engineer post
Meanwhile, the minister also informed that the state government has notified the creation of executive engineer’s post (EE) of the health engineering wing of the Health department for Garo Hills.
Hek said that there was no EE in the health engineering wing for Garo Hills, adding that the EE from Shillong was looking after the region too. “We have notified the creation of executive engineer and directions have been given to immediately arrange all the required infrastructure and manpower,” the minister said.
