NONGPOH, Dec 15: Governor Satya Pal Malik, who has been on the move visiting districts after districts in Meghalaya to take stock of developmental activities, on Tuesday, convened a review meeting with the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, the district Superintendent of Police and other officials.
Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah briefed Malik about the Centre-sponsored schemes implemented in the district.
The DC revealed the hurdles faced during implementation of all the schemes and also highlighted the achievements of Ri Bhoi, especially in the field of education and agriculture.
The challenges outlined by the DC during the meeting included poor road condition, recurrent power outages, poor mobile and internet connectivity besides interstate border issues.
After a review of the matters, Malik said that Ri Bhoi deserves special focus of the state and central government as it is an aspirational district.
He further assured to take up issues faced by the district at his level and also with the Centre.
