MAWKYRWAT, Dec 23: Health Minister AL Hek, on Wednesday, assured the people of South West Khasi Hills that the much-awaited 100-bed hospital at Mawkyrwat, which has been lying pending for more than eight years, will be inaugurated in 2021.
He informed this while inaugurating the Rangmaw Sub-Centre in the presence of Mawkyrwat MLA and PHE Minister, Renikton L Tongkhar, and Deputy Commissioner, Cara Kharkongor, among others.
“In 2021, we will definitely inaugurate the 100-bed hospital at Mawkyrwat to fulfil the dreams of the people of Mawkyrwat area and the district as a whole,” Hek said.
Hek said that the department will try to sanction all the posts in the 100-bed hospital. And if this is not possible, it will ensure that more than 50 per cent of the posts will be sanctioned so that the hospital starts functioning.
He said that the sub-centre is a Christmas gift for the people of Rangmaw and other adjacent villages.
Meanwhile, Tongkhar said that the expectation of the locals is that the sub-centre should start functioning and not be left in vain after inauguration.
He further expressed the need to complete and inaugurate the Mawthong and Mawkhyrwang Sub-Centres, which have been pending for many years, besides setting up another sub-centre at Manad village in the Riwar Sepngi area to cater to the needs of the people there.
