GUWAHATI: The newly-elected alliance in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has pledged to weed out corruption and carry out an investigation into the ‘anomalies’ across various departments under the council after a week.

BTC chief executive member Pramod Boro said that tough measures would be taken by the ‘new government’ against anyone involved in corruption.

Speaking to media persons on Monday, Boro said “a lot of anomalies have been noticed across departments in the council and that the new government would soon get to the root of the matter and take action against anyone found guilty.”

“An investigation will be carried out after a week and no politician, official or employee found guilty in corruption would be spared,” he asserted.

The BTC chief further said several files relating to the work done under the various departments have been misplaced.

“In this regard, we have taken a decision to digitise the entire process in a month’s time so that the development work in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) can be assessed for study and also accessed easily by people,” Boro said.

He further assured that the UPPL-BJP-GSP alliance government would take the people of BTR along in the path of progress.

Meanwhile, Boro had an open discussion with members of 32 groups and student organisations of BTR on Monday to understand their problems and address the grievances of people from various communities.

“We promise to ensure a democratic environment where people from all communities are treated equally. Like I said before, we are in the government not for power but to serve the people of BTR,” he added.
