2 killed in Ri Bhoi road mishaps

NONGPOH, Feb 13: Two persons were reportedly killed in two different accidents in Ri Bhoi on Friday. While one accident occurred at 18th Mile Byrnihat, the other occurred at Saiden near Nongpoh.
At 18th Mile Byrnihat, a person was killed on the spot on Friday afternoon when he was trying to board a running truck.
It was informed that the person, while trying to board the truck, reportedly slipped, fell down and was crushed between the rear tyres, killing him on the spot.
According to sources from the police, the deceased was loitering in the area since daytime and was wearing short pants without any shirt.
The sources informed that the deceased is approximately 5.5-ft tall and has a swarthy complexion, round face and black hair. He was wearing black shorts with Adidas stripe and a pair of blue-coloured sneakers. Meanwhile, the body has been kept at Nongpoh Civil Hospital morgue after post-mortem.
Meanwhile, in Saiden near Nongpoh along NH-6, a person was killed after being hit by an unknown vehicle on Friday evening.
The body of the deceased, who was identified as Playtik Shabong from Pahamriniai village, Ri Bhoi, has been sent to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
The police, meanwhile, are on the hunt for the absconding vehicle.
