NONGPOH, Feb 17: In line with the National Green Tribunal order, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, in a statement, reminded the public that hefty penalties will be charged from the violators of noise pollution norms proposed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Use of loud speakers or PA system without obtaining written permission from the concerned authority except those in premises for communication such as auditoria, community halls, banquet halls or during public emergency, are some of the violations of the norms.
The order also prohibits use of a loudspeaker or PA system at night besides playing music, beating drum, blowing of trumpet or exhibiting any musical performance to attract crowds in any place covered under the silence zone/area, the DC said in the statement.
