Car rally
In a bid to raise awareness on safe driving habits, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District, in collaboration with the District Transport Office and the Office of the Superintendent of Police, will organise an awareness programme and a car rally on ‘Safe Driving’ on March 13. According to a statement, an essay competition for students from Class IX to XII on the topic ‘Safe Driving’ will also be held. “Students who are interested may kindly submit their essays to the Office of the DLSA, Khliehriat, on or before March 9, 2021,” the statement said.

Clarification
Police has clarified that the truck, which overturned on Thursday at 3rd Mile, Upper Shillong, was carrying coke and not coal, as reported earlier. A statement from the East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police on Friday also informed that the aforesaid truck had all necessary documents.

Registration
All occupiers, owners of all unregistered units, factories across Meghalaya who have not yet applied for a license to establish a factory from the office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories, Shillong, have been directed to apply online for new registration at https://investmeghalaya.gov.in. This has been informed by the Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories, Meghalaya.

Extension
South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner has extended the validity of existing license holders of Kalaichar border haat for one year with effect from March 7, 2021, to March 7, 2022. The directive from the DC came in the view of the halt in activities at Kalaichar border haat during the lockdown period.
