JOWAI, March 4: One coal-laden truck on Thursday overturned and crushed a light vehicle, leaving the latter under a blanket of coal.
The truck was en route to Wapung Shnong village in East Jaintia Hills from Guwahati when the mishap happened.
Both the truck and the vehicle were occupied by only their drivers. However, it has been alleged that the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol. The car driver, however, managed to cheat death and sustained minor injuries.
While the driver of the light vehicle, identified as one Ronal  Sutnga of Lad-Sutnga village in East Jaintia Hills, was stuck inside his vehicle covered with coal, the trucker was reportedly lying on the roadside following the mishap.
Locals and passersby helped in pulling the driver out of the crushed car.
The residents informed that the truck was transporting Australian coal from Assam to a cement factory in East Jaintia Hills.
