Mawkyrwat SA, Mawkohphet SC emerge triumphant

Mawkyrwat, March 8: Mawkyrwat Sports Association and Mawkohphet Sports Club emerged champions of the Super Division District Cricket League, 2020 and the First Division Cricket League 2020 respectively after securing wins in the finals held at Madan Motmeron, Jakrem village on Saturday. General secretary of South West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association, Bakhain Nongsiej informed that the two tournaments had been pending since 2020 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the final of the Super Division, Jakrem SC won the toss and elected to field first. Mawkyrwat SA scored 113 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Chasing 114 for a win, Jakrem SC were stranded at 107/7 in their allotted 20 overs, losing narrowly to Mawkyrwat SA by only 6 runs. Bantei Nongsiej of Mawkyrwat SA was adjudged Man of the Match after taking 2 wickets and scoring 31 runs while Elevenson Wanniang of Mawkyrwat was adjudged Man of the Tournament for his consistent performance throughout the tournament.
In a First Division match, Mawkohphet SC snatched a 4-wicket victory over Wahsiej SC. Wahsiej SC won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring only 77 runs in 19.5 overs before losing all wickets. Mawkohphet chased down the target to win by 4 wickets. Mawkohphet’s Wiseman K Syiemiong won the Man of the Match award after taking 4 wickets while teammate Cleverjune K Syiemiong was adjudged Man of the Tournament.
