Sec 144 CrPC
Ahead of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections, South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ch Ramakrishna has enforced Section 144 CrPC to ensure conduct of free and fair elections within the district. The order issued by the DC prohibits violation of the model code of conduct by any person or political party with immediate effect.

Resignation
Congress leader from Mahendraganj, Aktar Ali, and his supporters have resigned from the primary membership of the party to contest the upcoming GHADC elections. Ali is looking to contest the upcoming MDC elections as an independent candidate from Zikzak GDC Constituency.

Curfew extended
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh has extended the night curfew in the district till March 16. According to a statement, the restrictions and relaxations will remain the same.

Programme
The inaugural programme for the commencement of three certificate and skill-based courses was held on Monday at Sankardev College, Shillong. The programme was graced by the college principal, Dr Eureka FP Lyngdoh, as the chief guest.
