MAWKYRWAT, March 17: A woman from Shnongkalong village in South West Khasi Hills has sought police action against village authorities for allegedly ostracising her and her family.
In the complaint lodged with Ranikor Police Station, the woman, Bluetiful Syiemiong, has accused the village Sordar, Angelijun Dkhar, and village Secretary, Specially Nonglang, of ostracising her family notwithstanding the fact that the family members are bona fide residents of the village.
She added that they even have all the valid documents to corroborate their residentship.
“All these times, they didn’t tell me face-to-face or give any order about the ostracisation. But it was only this time that they (village authorities) had declared through the media that I along with my family have been ostracised from the village,” Syiemiong said.
“The announcement has brought fear to me and my family that something bad may happen anytime to us as earlier too, our farming products were destroyed by unknown people and our vehicle were also damaged,” a perturbed Syiemiong added in her complaint.
