NONGPOH, March 31: With a hope to cater to the needs of students as well as improve the quality of education, former chief minister DD Lapang on Wednesday inaugurated the new school building of Nehru Memorial Higher Secondary School, Umsning.
Sanctioned under the Supporting Human Capital Development Project for Rs 2.69 crore, the new school building includes science lab, computer room, digital classroom, digital library, arts-and-crafts room, girls’ activity room, etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Lapang recalled the history of the school’s initiation in 1962 by former prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on his way to Shillong.
Others who attended the inaugural programme include Umsning MLA, Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah among others.
