SHILLONG, April 8: Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh on Thursday distributed power tillers and seeds among farmers under Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) and State Plan Scheme 2020-2021.
The farmers received the power tillers and seeds during a function organised by the Agriculture Engineering (Mechanical) Wing of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare at the Meghalaya State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute, Upper Shillong.
Speaking on the occasion, Lyngdoh bemoaned that the department is not able to fully meet the needs of farmers despite the growth in demand for machineries, but efforts are on to ensure maximum coverage is given to them.
