TURA, April 14: South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, Ramakrishna Chitturi, has issued show-cause notice to two state government employees for allegedly threatening a headman after the latter declined to accede to the former’s demand to persuade people to vote for the BJP during the GHADC polls, thereby violating the model code of conduct (MCC).
The show-cause notice was issued to Council employee, Biplob Barman, and a staff of the MeECL, Mahendraganj Sub-Division, Dipak Ghosh, after a police complaint was registered against them by one Noor Mahamad, an NPP election agent.
According to the complaint, the duo had allegedly called on the headman of Paulpara, Chandra Shekhar Paul, at his residence on the night of April 9, and tried convincing him to talk people into voting for the BJP in the Council polls.
Failing to accept the request, the headman was later threatened by the duo.
