Lucknow, April 15 : The daughter of jailed former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, has put out a video statement, questioning the ‘injustice’ done to her mother Sangeeta Senger.
The daughter has not given out her name. “In any case, the name does not matter – what matters is that my surname is Senger.
Her mother, Sangeeta Sengar was earlier given the ticket by the BJP for the panchayat elections in Unnao, but the same was later withdrawn after media raised questions on the same.
“My mother has been in active politics for the past 15 years. She has contested and won the panchayat elections and was chairman of the zila panchayat. She has been known for her honesty and integrity but now her competence has been set aside. Women may be given reservation but why is it that they are known for what their father or husband has done. We have suffered injustice all through and if I keep quiet again now, I will not be able to answer my conscience,” she said.
Kuldeep Sengar is in Tihar jail after being convicted for the rape of a minor.
His family wields considerable influence in Unnao and also enjoys the sympathy of his community that believes the former MLA was falsely implicated in the case.
Kuldeep Senger, sentenced to life in jail, was disqualified as the member of the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly last year in February.(IANS)
