BSF seize smuggled goods worth Rs 45 lakh on Bangladesh border in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, April 20: BSF troops of 43 battalion deployed at the border outpost at Gaobari in India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya confiscated miscellaneous items comprising skin cream, herbal mehndi and tea waste worth more than Rupees 45 lakh.

The items were meant for smuggling through border area of village Gaobari. The area being unfenced is vulnerable for smuggling and facilitate trans-border movement of smugglers and carriers.

Sensing imminent apprehension by special party of BSF, smugglers threw their headloads and managed to run taking advantage of darkness. The seized items were handed over to the Customs Department for further disposal.
