Two schools in Ri Bhoi closed

NONGPOH, April 19: In the wake of some schoolchildren testing positive for COVID-19, two Ri Bhoi schools — St. Paul’s Secondary School and Savio School — were asked to shut down for two days (Tuesday and Wednesday). This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah.
However, as St. Paul’s Secondary School is currently catering as an examination centre for students appearing for the SSLC, the DC informed that the ongoing examinations will go on as scheduled with strict adherence to COVID protocols.

Containment orders
In an attempt to trace high-risk contacts of positive cases, the Umklai village has been declared as a containment area, while the house and compound of Oling Nongrum, Edmund Shadap, Nicholas Malai and Biangtihun Marbaniang of Khyndewso village in Ri Bhoi have been declared as containment zone on Sunday by the Deputy Commissioner.
Movement to and fro the aforementioned areas, has been restricted and gatherings, events, functions of any kind have also been barred.
