Kharkutta Market declared containment zone

TURA, May 18: Kharkutta market in North Garo Hills was on Tuesday declared a containment zone after 13 people in the area tested positive for Covid-19.

As per the order issued in this regard, the entire market area shall remain under containment for 3 days with effect from 5 PM of May 18 till 6 AM of May 21.

Barring the medical team which will be conducting contact tracing of persons who might have come into contact with those tested positive, all inhabitants inside the containment zone have been directed to strictly remain inside their house. The order also prohibited all kinds of gatherings, events and functions and all shops within the area have been ordered to close immediately.

Meanwhile, North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner R P Marak in a separate order has requested the citizens to refrain from circulating fake news through social media like WhatsApp and Facebook relating to COVID-19 vaccination.

The notification comes in the midst of certain people spreading fake reports about Covid-19 vaccination when the process is in progress in the district.

“All persons spreading fakes news relating to public health issues can be booked under section 54 of the epidemic diseases act, 1897,” the order by the Deputy Commissioner warned.
