SHILLONG, May 25: A student of North-Eastern Hill University has urged Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to initiate an inquiry into the absenteeism of Vice Chancellor SK Srivastava.
In a letter to Pokhriyal, the student alleged that the VC has not been seen in the university campus since April 18 and his disappearance has put many students in a state of dilemma.
Stating that important decisions on ongoing examinations and hostel regulations require the presence of the VC, the student said, “It is very unfortunate that Prof SK Srivastava has abdicated his responsibility of leading the students and the University in this hour of acute suffering, grief and loss. Not only has he remained absent during this wave of deadly COVID -19, but he has also committed a grave act of irresponsibility by leaving the students, researchers and the community without any action plan of support, proving beyond doubt that he only serves his own interests.”
