DC extends lockdown in SWKH

MAWKYRWAT/ NONGSTOIN, May 27: South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, C Kharkongor, has extended lockdown in the district from 5 am of May 29 till 5 am of May 31.
According to the directive from the DC, political, public, social and religious gatherings, including conferences, weddings, meetings and trainings, will continue to remain suspended. “Funeral gathering is to be restricted to 10 persons with prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner. Any gathering at the funeral in any form is prohibited,” the directive said.
International border trade and sports activities also continue to remain suspended. “All markets including weekly haats will remain shut during the period of lockdown and only shops selling essential commodities at localities will be allowed to open. All markets in the district shall be closed at 6 pm daily,” the directive said.
Containment areas
Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills has declared Kolomboit village under  Ranikor Civil Sub-Division as a containment area after detection of COVID-19 cases/high-risk contacts.
The DC, on the other hand, has declared the house of one Sumarlin Syiemlieh at Rangthong village, South West Khasi Hills, as a containment area.
Movement in the aforesaid locations has been suspended.
Total curfew in WKH
West Khasi Hills district magistrate has extended total curfew in the district from 5 am of May 29 till 5 am of May 31.
