Condolence
The Shillong Mukul Sangha, a branch of Asom Sahitya Sabha, has condoled the demise of noted Assamese litterateur, Dr Lakshmi Nandan Bora, who breathed his last on Thursday. “Dr Bora served as the president of Asom Sahitya Sabha and was honoured with Padma Shri. The members of Sangha have conveyed their deepest condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to God for eternal peace of the departed soul,” the Sangha said in its statement.

Wholemeal atta
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that wholemeal atta for the month of May is being released through their respective fair price shops at the scale of 5 kg per card in urban areas and 3 kg per card in rural areas at Rs 10.50 per kg. Meanwhile, all fair price shops have been directed to distribute the quota as soon as the stock arrives and to display the list of beneficiaries and the timing of operation in their respective shops. “Any non-supply, supply of less prescribed scale or inferior quality may be reported to the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) East Khasi Hills District,” a statement in this regard said.

PDS quota
The Sub-Divisional Officer (supply), Amlarem Sub-Division, West Jaintia Hills, on Wednesday informed that NFSA (AAY & PHH) and non-NFSA quota of rice for the month of June has been released. AAY quota of rice will be distributed at the scale of 35 kg per household at the rate of Rs 3 per kg. Meanwhile, PHH quota of rice will be distributed at the scale of 5 kg per head at the rate of Rs 3 per kg and Non-NFSA rice at the rate not exceeding Rs 14 per kg. In another statement, the SDO said that Superior Kerosene Oil for the month of May will be released to the SKO retailers on June 5.
