Drug bust turns up more than Rs 4 lakh cash in city; 2 held

SHILLONG, June 15: In what can be called a major drug bust, the ANTF team along with the staff from Madanrting Police Station seized nearly 200 grams of contraband from the residence of a suspect at Madanrting, who has been arrested.
Acting on intel, the team raided the house of the suspect and found 195.84 grams of heroin in the presence of independent witnesses recently. Another drug peddler was also arrested near the residence, police said.
On searching his vehicle, around Rs 3.28 lakh in cash was found concealed in a black polythene bag. With the help of inputs from the accused, more cash, to the tune of 1.08 lakh, was also seized from the residence of another peddler.
A case has been registered and two persons have been arrested, while investigation is on to ascertain more facts into the case, the police said.
