ASHAs in Ri Bhoi get financial aid

NONGPOH/ MAWKYRWAT, June 28: Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem has extended financial assistance of Rs 2,000 each and provided essential items to ASHA workers in Ri Bhoi in a programme here recently. The ASHA workers’ union of the district, led by its central body president, Mirajune Myrsing, received the donations and essentials.
Speaking during the programme, the local MLA said that it is just a small gift even as he expressed hope that it would inspire them to continue rendering their selfless services to the people.
Lauding the ASHAs, he urged the government to consider enhancing their monthly honorarium to not less than Rs 5,000 per month.

The FKJGP recently donated a disinfectant spraying machine, hand sanitisers and face masks to The Shillong Times as a gesture of goodwill.
DC warns of punishment
South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has stated that anyone who attempts to spread misinformation on the efficacy of COVID vaccine will be punished.
“In compliance to the Meghalaya High Court order, it is hereby ordered that any attempt made by any person / organization to spread misinformation regarding the efficacy of the COVID vaccination including rumor mongering and speech against the vaccination programme in which ever form of medium, amongst the people of South West Khasi Hills District, action shall be taken as per law,” the DC said in the order.
