NEHU official asked to solve pending results issue
TURA, July 6: The All Garo Hills Joint Action Committee (AGHJAC) on Tuesday urged NEHU Pro Vice Chancellor, Tura, G Singaiah, to look into the issue of pending results of select students. In a letter to Singaiah, convenor of the AGHJAC, Balkarin Ch Marak, said the students whose results are still pending were told to fill up forms for the semester examination, leaving them baffled as they are yet to know the status of their performances from the preceding semester(s). He also informed that this issue was earlier taken up with the authorities of the Tura Government College, which said the matter was pending with NEHU.

FKJGP’s gratitude for Centre
NONGSTOIN, July 6: The Federation of Khasi-Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP), West Khasi Hills District, has expressed its gratitude to the central government and the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways for sanctioning the project for rehabilitation and upgrade of Nongstoin – Kyrshai Road via Rambrai. General secretary of the organisation, Chandra Nongdkhar, informed media persons here on Tuesday that the tender for the road project has been floated by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) valuing Rs 231.36 crore. The FKJGP also extended its gratitude to the MDA Government and PWD (Roads), Nongstoin Division, for “their tireless efforts in the project since its inception”.

Call for impartial inquiry into deaths
SHILLONG, July 6: The All India Garo Union, while expressing anguish, has called for an impartial inquiry into the deaths of Rosy Sangma and her nephew Samuel Sangma under ‘mysterious’ circumstances in Gurugram, Haryana, recently. The Union has appealed to the governments of Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland and Haryana as well as the Centre to take necessary action to redress the grievances of bereaved the family. It may be mentioned that the Haryana Government has already entrusted the investigation into the deaths to a Special Invesigation Team (SIT).

Club gets new president
SHILLONG, July 6: Rotary Club Shillong Heritage completed the third installation of its new president, Rtn Sandeep Das, and his team for the year 2021-22. The programme was virtually attended by Rtn Dr Debashish Das, past District Governor, and Rtn Kishan Tibrewalla, Assistant Governor, Zone X, RID 3240, who was the guest of honour.
