16 out of 17 recent COVID victims in WKH unvaccinated

NONGSTOIN, July 9: West Khasi Hills has, between June 13 and July 8, reported 17 COVID-19 fatalities out of which 16 were found to be unvaccinated.
This was informed by the DM&HO of West Khasi Hills during a review meeting on Friday.
Health Minister AL Hek accompanied by DHS (MI) Aman War had reviewed the COVID-19 situation in West Khasi Hills during a meeting which was attended by SDOs, DM&HO Dr. SA Lyngdoh, medical superintendents, Nongstoin MLA M Byrsat, Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa, doctors and staff from Health department, among others. (Contd from P-3) Hek, during the meeting, took note about the constraints faced by the health centers in West Khasi Hills. He also spoke about the preparedness for any possible third wave of COVID-19.
Nongstoin MLA, on the other hand, suggested the government to fill up all vacant posts in the Health department.
Dr War, during the meeting, informed that the state government has authorised the district officers to appoint temporary staff for COVID-19 in case of urgency while assuring that more doctors will be appointed for Nongstoin and Mairang Civil Hospitals following the completion of their training.
