SHILLONG, July 25: In keeping with its objective of sustainable development, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong will hold the eighth edition of its International Conference on Sustainability, SUSCON.
Thematically, SUSCON focuses on ‘Holism, Harmony and Happiness’ this year. As has been the tradition, SUSCON, this year too, aims to unfold the congregation of the best minds working on sustainability across the globe.
This time, IIM Shillong is going to collaborate with the Centre for Bhutan Studies & Gross National Happiness Research (CBS & GNH Research) as academic and intellectual partners for the Conference. Moreover, the European SPES (Spirituality and Ethics in Society) Institute will be a collaborating partner.
The institute has informed that this year, IIM Shillong’s Foundation Module on Sustainability is being integrated with SUSCON in a manner wherein young minds who have been admitted in the institute here from various parts of the country will be listening to and interacting with the distinguished speakers of the conference as a part of the course.
Given the prevailing COVID scenario, the conference is going to be held virtually. “Adhering to the values of sustainability, the institute is going to plant a sapling in its campus in the name of each distinguished speaker. Also, the seed of a long-term strategic plan of creating a root bridge in the campus will be sown during the conference,” it said.
Academically, more than 135 papers have been submitted to the conference. Authors of selected submissions have been asked to present their work in two ways — either as a full paper (oral) presentation or as a poster presentation.
