SHILLONG, Aug 6: A rented house of one JC Shabong at Upper Lachumiere was gutted after an LPG cylinder explosion rocked the locality on Friday evening.
Residents had a narrow escape as they fled from the location just moments before the cylinder exploded. Everyone escaped unhurt.
It was informed that the cylinder had leaked and eventually caught fire. It then exploded before the fire tenders could reach the spot.
Frightened residents said that it took some time for the firefighters to douse the blaze as the house is located at a distance from the main road.
