SHILLONG, Aug 8: The Workers Power of Meghalaya and Thma U Rangli (TUR) have reminded the Labour department to disburse the financial aid of Rs 2,100 to all daily wage earners and labourers under the Chief Minister’s Relief Against Wage Loss (CRAWL) scheme.
In a statement, they recalled that during the meeting with the Principal Secretary of Labour department it was assured that the financial assistance promised to the daily wage earners and labourers will be disbursed.
“We had given a deadline till August 15 to disburse the financial aid. We had demanded to submit a weekly report on the number of the labourers who has received the financial aid,” they stated.
They have also demanded of the government to provide financial aid for the year 2021 as many people had lost their livelihood during the second wave of COVID-19.
Also, the organsiations have urged the government to provide financial assistance to all the labourers who are registered under the Meghalaya Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB).
“The government should also provide assistance to those who failed to pay their renewal fees of Rs 10 to be covered under the MBOCWWB. The government should not penalise the labourers who failed to renew in view of the prevailing situation,” they added.
