MAWKYRWAT, Aug 22: Residents of Rangblang area in South West Khasi Hills, on Saturday, found a decomposed body of a man in a paddy field located on the outskirts of both Diwian Rangblang village and Nongbah Rangblang village.
Sources said that village authorities informed the police about the body. “There was no flesh in the hands, legs and head. However, there was flesh from waist up to the neck,” sources said.
It is suspected that the body may have been lying on the field for around two weeks, and during the time, animals could have consumed parts of the body. The body of the man was about five feet tall. However, after the doctor arrived to conduct the post-mortem examination on the body, relatives stepped forward and claimed that the man was a resident of Diwian Rangblang and his name was Reginald Iawphniaw (37).
The relatives have ruled out foul play in the incident while informing the deceased was suffering from seizure disorder or epilepsy for several years. After completing the formalities, the body was handed over to the family members.
