Four deaths in state, 162 fresh cases

SHILLONG, Aug 24: Four more persons succumbed to COVID-19 on Tuesday, pushing the death toll to 1,285, while 162 fresh cases were detected in the last 24 hours. Three deaths were recorded in East Khasi Hills while one death occurred in West Khasi Hills. Three of the victims had not been vaccinated.
Of the 162 fresh cases, 88 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 20 in West Khasi Hills, 18 in West Garo Hills, 10 in West Jaintia Hills, seven in Ri-Bhoi, six in South West Garo Hills, five in South Garo Hills, four in East Jaintia Hills and two each in East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills.
The active tally stands at 2,820 while 70,127 people have recovered so far, including 268 on Tuesday.
