Man held over minor’s rape

NONGSTOIN, Sep 2: A man from Phodmawrie village, identified as Kerding Thongni, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping an eight-year-old.
It was informed that the accused had reportedly perpetrated the crime at his farming house in Mawlan B village, West Khasi Hills.
The incident came to light after the victim divulged the incident to her parents on August 17. However, much to the family’s dismay, the parents could not go to the police ( station to report the matter owing to financial constraint.
The Nongstoin police, on the other hand, had registered an FIR under POCSO Act on August 30.
