Lacklustre celebrations in GH

TURA, Sep 6: The celebrations of Teachers’ Day were a low-key affair in Garo Hills, all thanks to the pandemic situation.
In North Garo Hills, the celebration was held on Monday at the Resubelpara Circuit House which was attended by Deputy Commissioner RP Marak was the chief guest.
During the programme, the DSEO, RT K Sangma, paid tributes to former President of India Dr S Radhakrishnan and said that his teachings and ideals will continue to guide teachers towards the implementation of National Education Policy 2020. Teachers were also conferred with awards during the programme. Similar programme was also held in Baghmara of South Garo Hills which was attended by Baghmara EAC, Tangchi Momin, as the chief guest.
Momin, during the programme, lauded the teaching community for their efforts to educate the students online and stressed on the importance of vaccination. Meanwhile, in Tura, a programme with participation of vaccinated teachers was held at the Conference Hall of the Additional Director of School Education and Literacy in Dakopgre.
Also, various teachers were conferred with awards.
