SHILLONG, Sep 17: The Assembly on Friday witnessed a heated argument between Congress MLA from Rangsakona, Zenith M. Sangma and NPP legislator from Williamnagar, Marcuise N. Marak over the 2005 MBoSE firing incident during the short-duration discussion on the “failure of governance in the state”.
The Congress MLA had stood up to seek clarification after Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma had replied to the short-duration discussion.
Zenith Sangma stated that NPP legislator from Phulbari, SG Esmatur Mominin had made a reference to the MBoSE firing incident in 2005.
“The MBoSE issue is a closed chapter since the judicial inquiry was done,” the Congress MLA said.
Marak interrupted the Congress MLA by asking him why he was afraid to speak about the September 30, 2005, firing incident.
The Congress MLA reacted by saying he is not scared and this is not the place to play politics.
“It was a malicious political conspiracy made by certain politicians. Had I been scared of discussing this, I would not have spoken,” he said while banging on the desk.
Deputy Speaker Timothy D. Shira told both the legislators to calm down as their argument intensified.
Speaking to reporters after the session, the Congress MLA said he was trying to air some views for the government to take corrective steps.
