SHILLONG , Sep 18: The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has issued more relaxations in view of the improving COVID-19 situation in the district.
In the directive, the DC has permitted all economic activities (both essential and non-essential), including teer counters, to function six days a week. “They shall close by 6:30 pm sharp,” the DC said, adding, “Restaurants, cafes, teashops, bars, takeaway services, salons/beauty parlors and gymnasiums shall close by 8 pm.”
Night curfew, on the other hand, will be promulgated each day between 9 pm and 5 am across the district.
Home delivery services have been allowed only during curfew relaxation hours while a maximum of 50 persons have been allowed to attend funeral gatherings.
“Border Haats are permitted to reopen subject to strict compliance to SOPs and recommendation of the Border Haat Management Committee and with prior approval from this office. All vendors/vendees are encouraged to get themselves vaccinated prior to re-opening of the haats,” the DC said.
Engagement and marriage ceremonies outside places of worships have also been permitted with prior permission from the office of the DC.
For engagement or marriage ceremonies in private residences, a maximum of one-third of seating capacity or 50 persons in total, whichever is less, has been permitted. On the other hand, for halls or open areas, a maximum of one-third of seating capacity or 100 persons in total, whichever is less, has been permitted.
