SHILLONG, Sep 18: With speculations of infighting within the Congress recently coming to light after the formal induction ceremony of RG Lyngdoh, PN Syiem and three others, Congress leader Mukul Sangma has decided to keep mum on his absence from the ceremony.
“Usually when things revolve around internal party affairs, Dr Mukul Sangma does not usually share it,” he said on Friday.
Mukul also said that it is a million-dollar question whether or not the Congress will exhibit unity while contesting the 2023 Assembly elections.
On the observation made by the UDP that there is a race for prominence going on among the Congress leaders, the Opposition leader said, “They have the right to have their own opinion.”
It may be mentioned that except Mendipathar MLA Marthon Sangma, none of the Congress legislators from Garo Hills region attended the induction ceremony in the city.
Marthon Sangma, who took over as one of the working presidents of the MPCC, had also declined to comment on the absence of the CLP leader and other Congress MLAs from Garo Hills.
