KSU reiterates opposition to uranium mining

MAWKYRWAT, Sep 26: Although the matter of uranium mining has been overshadowed low of late, the Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) has reiterated its opposition to any uranium mining in the state reasoning that it cannot trade people’s health for gains from mining activity.
This was informed during a programme to recongnise office-bearers of the KSU Lai Hima Zone at Rangblang village in South West Khasi Hills on Saturday.
The new members were urged to continue raising the issue of roads, health and education for the locals.
President of the KSU, Lambokstarwell Marngar, later released an ambulance which will serve the people of Warsan Lyngdoh, Umdohlun and Rangblang areas.
