Covid duty nurse and 3 college students among victims of MTC bus tragedy

TURA. Sept 30: The medical fraternity has lost a precious member, a young staff nurse, in the tragic bus accident that occurred at Nongshram bridge late Wednesday night. Two among the dead are women.

The 26 year old staff nurse Miss Dismi M Sangma, posted at Baghmara Civil Hospital and had undergone several covid duties, hailed from Rangmal Badim locality of Williamnagar. She was travelling to Shillong when she perished along with five others in that ill-fated bus on Wednesday night.

Three young college students also perished in this tragedy. A B.SC topper in Chemistry, Traiwin R Marak, who was heading for his Masters in NEHU, Shillong, was among the six victims to perish in the accident.

Another student Chekamchi G Momin of Balsrigittim, Williamnagar had just attained 18 years when tragedy took her away. The third student to perish was Tangsimbirth M Sangma of Old PWD Colony in Williamnagar.

Meanwhile, a young lady doctor attached to the AYUSH clinic in Rongara Primary Health Centre (PHC) in South Garo Hills narrowly escaped with her life but was left critically injured in the same accident.
