NONGSTOIN, Oct 12: The Border Committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Tuesday asked four Himas in West Khasi Hills — Hima Riangsieh, Hima Nonglang, Hima Jyrngam and Hima Nongmynsaw — to hold discussions before Meghalaya and Assam arrive to a conclusion to resolve the border issue.
This was conveyed to the Himas during a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, which was attended by Chief Executive Member of KHADC, Titosstarwell Chyne, Executive Member, Elaka, Jambor War, MDC of Rambrai Jyrngam Bajop Pyngrope, besides delegation of the four Himas.
Speaking to pressmen here after the meeting, the CEM said that the meeting was held to meet the Sirdar and Syiem of the respective Himas and Raid and to collect all documents relating to the border and jurisdiction of the four Himas, which will support the data collected for the resolution of border dispute.
Stating that a report on the data will be submitted to the state government, Chyne hoped that the government will accept their claims as per the documents received from the Himas.
