SHILLONG, Dec 4: The State BJP has decided to contest from all the seats in Shillong in the upcoming Assembly elections in 2023.
At the executive meet of BJP Shillong City District unit, the party resolved to strengthen its presence right from the booth-level in all the seven mandals of Shillong.
BJP leaders AL Hek and Sanbor Shullai have also pledged their time and support as well as guidance to strengthen the party. “We discussed preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections and I see that BJP has huge potential in the city and if all karyakartas put their head together, we will be getting more than five seats in the city only,” said AL Hek, on Saturday.  The BJP leader also informed that all the mandals at the booth level are being strengthened, adding that they are also looking for good candidates. “The process of looking for good candidates have started and we should get more seats this time,” said Hek.
Pointing out that the BJP will continue to rule in the Centre, the Pynthorumkhrah MLA added, “Even here in Meghalaya, we can have our own government”.
It is worth mentioning that the State BJP has done relatively well in the urban areas and have managed to garner substantial votes in many constituencies such as North Shillong, West Shillong, South Shillong and Nongthymmai.
