SHILLONG, Dec 18: Information Technology and Communications Minister, Hamletson Dohling, on Saturday said that the IT park, which will be coming up in New Shillong Township, will open immense possibilities for employment of local youths in the information and technology sector.
Informing that the project would generate employment for close to 1,200 youths of the state, Dohling stated that the establishment of this park will prevent the displacement of thousands of youth from Meghalaya and other Northeastern states, who get hired to work in companies outside.
As part of his statement, Dohling declared that the final works of the park construction are going on in full swing, and it will be completed well before Meghalaya celebrates its 50th statehood day on January 21.
Talking further about the status of the park’s set-up, the Information Technology and Communications minister said that huge numbers of IT firms have already applied to operate from the park and as of now, the arrangements are full.
He also mentioned that the conceptualization for the second phase of the park has already been started and as for the upcoming operations, the government will ensure round-the-clock power and internet supply in the park alongside setting up a road network for easy movement to and from it.
