SCL 3rd Div: Mawsynram, Mawjam enter semi-finals

SHILLONG, Jan 3: Mawjam secured a thrilling 1-run victory while Mawsynram beat Municipal by 30 runs in their respective quarter-final matches as both teams join Lumpyngngad, Elite CC in the semi-finals of the ongoing Shillong Cricket League Third Division. In the third quarter-final, Inningstar CC won the toss before opting to field first against Mawjam who then posted a modest 112/7 in 20 overs. Roshan Sharma and Nangkiewdon top-scored with 25 runs each. Ajay Biswa took 2/14 runs in 4 overs. However, a splendid bowling performance by Player-of-the-Match Rajkishore saw Inningstar fold for 111 in 19.3 overs as Mawjam won by a single run. Rajkishore finished with figures of 4/19 in 3.3 overs. Varun Gill was the highest scorer for Inningstar with 20. Later, Municipal won the toss and also fielded first against Mawsynram. Mawsynram scored 146/6 in 20 overs with Denis scoring 37 and Player-of-the-Match Ricky Stone adding 26 runs. Chiranjeet took 3/31 from 4 overs. In reply, Municipal were bundled out for 116 in 19.2 overs, losing by 30 runs. Arun Deka top-scored for Municipal with 19 runs. Shongdor finished figures of 3/21 in 4 overs while Ricky Stone took 2/20.
