The Superintendent of Police (City), East Khasi Hills, has cautioned the public against fraudulent messages received on WhatsApp where “imposters/fraudsters posing as heads of department/senior government officials/head of government” ask people to purchase Amazon gift cards of Rs 10,000 and email the same to [email protected]. “Public are advised not to respond to such messages and to inform the nearest police station/outpost/ beat house immediately if they receive such a message,” a statement in this regard said.

Condolence
The Communist Party of India, Meghalaya State Council, has condoled the demise of veteran Communist leader and a senior advocate from Shillong, Ranjit Kar, who passed away at Apollo Hospital, Guwahati, on Thursday. He was 72. According to a statement, a condolence meeting in this regard was also held at CPI office where the party members expressed their grief and offered condolences to the bereaved family members. “On his death, the party has lost a talented leader who always stood for upliftment of marginalised section of Meghalaya. In his honour, CPI flag will remain at half mast at party office, Quinton road, Shillong,” the statement said.
