Implementation of JJM in Meghalaya continues : Tongkhar

Shillong, Jan 11: Meghalaya PHE Minister Renikton L Tongkhar on Tuesday clarified that the centre has not stopped the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the State.

His statement comes in the wake of media reports that the implementation of the said scheme has been stopped.

Clarifying that the State has received a bonus for “smooth” conduct of the work, Tongkhar said that if such a thing was to happen then, the State would have received warning letters or a show-cause notice to clarify.

He added that even the centre has no clue about it.

Asserting that the work is moving smoothly and will improve double fold, he said that pipe was a big issue and to some extent, that has been solved.

He informed that the government was  targeting to cover over 5 lakh households under the scheme and the progress of work so far is “very good”.

He further informed that over 1200 villages had already been covered.
