SHILLONG, Jan 12: A statement from the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier said that their personnel apprehended as many as 150 miscreants along the Indo-Bangla border while conducting different operations in the past one year.
As per the statement, the 150 miscreants apprehended by BSF Meghalaya included 59 Bangladeshis, 88 Indians, two Nigerians and an African.
The statement said that troops of BSF Meghalaya have left no stone unturned to maintain the sanctity of the international border and prevent trans-border crimes along the international border throughout the year 2021.
It further mentioned that despite COVID protocols in place, miscreants kept on attempting their nefarious tasks along the border line but to no effect as they were foiled most of the times by BSF actions. During the same period, BSF Meghalaya confiscated smuggled goods and property worth more than Rs 38 crore, which included cattle, dry pea, liquor and Yaba tablets besides other smuggling items.
According to BSF, the force while continuing its core duty of border guarding in year 2021, also remained committed to raise the happiness index of bordering population in the remote village of Indo Bangladesh border.
They also provided needful items to bordering population through civic action programmes, organised free medical camps, organised cheerful occasions, provided pre-recruitment training to bordering youth and conducted sports activities all of which is believed to cement the bond along the borders in the times to come.
