Debate on Brain Drain held on National Youth Day-2022 at USTM

Guwahati, January 13, 2022: To commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, the maker of Modern India, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya celebrated National Youth Day-2022 on 12 th January by organizing a Debate Competition on the topic, “Brain Drain is Bane in Nation Building”. The programme was organized by the Department of Social Work, USTM.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nibedita Paul, Head of the Department of Social Work said, “Government of India declared 12 th of January as National Youth day. The day is celebrated to honour Swami Vivekananda as he propagated the importance of social service and leadership among the youth of the nation. We are organizing the debate competition on the theme “Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building” among the students where they shared theirviews on brain drain and Nation Building”.

The event followed the parliamentary system of debate and was judged by Prof. Abdul Matin, Shri Saikat Majumdar, Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Dr. Nibedita Paul. The program was carried out by following the necessary Covid-19 protocol. After completion of competition the judges had enlightened all with their views on the life and work of Swami Vivekananda and his philosophy.
