Final electoral rolls out

SHILONG, Jan 13: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), FR Kharkongor, on Thursday announced that the final publication of electoral rolls has been released.
As per final rolls, as on January 14, 2022, the total electorate stands at 20,81,570, which includes around 10.28 lakh males and slightly higher at 10.53 lakh stand females electorates.
There are also two trans-genders among the electorate, while the total number of service electors is 3,822.
Total forms received in all categories are nearly 90,000.
During the Special Summary Revision, the total number of new additions summed up to 54,712. Against this addition, new electors added in the age group 18-19 years are 35,980, which accounts for 65% of the total additions.
Total numbers deleted due to death or shifting is 9,051 and corrections account for 23,224. Gender ratio of the state as per census 2011 is 989, however gender ratio as per current electoral rolls 2022 is 1,024.
There are a total of 3,335 polling stations across 60 assembly constituencies spread over 12 districts of the state, which also include 141 polling stations that have been newly created.
In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, intensive efforts were made to encourage online enrolment via contactless and digital mediums. Registration through online mode have accounted for nearly 30% of total enrolments. The e-EPIC download facility will be available only to the newly added electors for the present. This facility will, however, be gradually extended to all the general voters in the coming months.
Door-step delivery of EPICs will also be available after the National Voters’ Day on January 25 in a phased manner.
